The Lord Promises Jacob's Departure to Egypt
Jim Boulden: The Lord had receded into the background in Genesis 37 to 45. He says now that Joseph has reconciled with his family, the Lord re-enters the scene. God tells Jacob not to be afraid of going down to Egypt; he makes a stop at Beersheba before leaving for Heron. It's as though there's this entire commitment to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and now Jacob," writes Boulden.
