The Fall of Constantinople

Byzantines had been run out of constantinople around 250 years earlier. This time the conquerors were not fragile latins, but wealthy ottomans. Mehmed would conquer both the despotat of the moria and the empire of trebizon within a decade after Constantine's fall. It marked the end of roman culture and politics after two thousand 200 years of existence. And so a cultural renaissance followed alongside more open minded methods of thinking.
