How to Automate Your Trading System
The first thing I would do is program everything you possibly can, and then run some kind of back test on it to see how it works. The thing I have found over and over again with discretionary traders who try to do this is their backtest comes out to be more or less garbage as far as the results are awful. So for discretionary traders, I very rarely seem where they could program exactly what they were doing and have it come out and mimic their prior results.
