What Is So Interesting About Black Hole?

Black holes are profoundly interesting in the sense that they're unlike any other object you can imagine in the universe. They just seem like a pathology in the cosmos, just something that can go wrong if you have a big star and it dies or something like that. Black holes of a certain mass and spin are absolutely identical to every other black hole with that mass and spin. That is a very profound statement. It makes them like they're fundamental particles, fundamental gravitational particles. There's something about them that is deeper in the laws of physics than other things that we're used to.
