The Problem With Barth's Denial of Direct Access to the Divine Essence
Van Till: For Barth, we have no direct experience of revelation. It can only be known indirectly through fallible witnesses. Van Till affirms a light part that God reveals Himself within the sphere of our calendar time in both nature and Scripture. We are left here only with witnesses to what is above, but we cannot gain access to the act of revelation in Jesus Christ itself.
