There's this research that Martin of Chianggua has been doing in England and parts of the United States where he looks at four more coal mining regions. And you can see that through a combination of social cultural influence and selective migration the makeup of personality in these regions changes. So today these parts particularly in Northern England tend to show higher levels of neuroticism and lower levels of for example openness and extroversion. There's even a follow-up paper that came out in H.U.A. a few years ago they can show that this is also showing up on the genetic level.
