The History of Proms

proms started as an offshoot of the debutante ball but then I guess that kind of debutante mentality became something that was less cloistered to the upper class after the war right. It's kind of like learning social graces etc. Susan Ford who was the daughter of President Gerald Ford hosted her senior prom at the White House in 1975 which is really epic and she was like the only first child to do that to this day. Her parents didn't go because they were like we have to go on a diplomatic mission to Europe which is like really funny.
