The technique teaches people how to find that sense of natural, healthy pleasure in the simple, simple, pleasant experiences of everyday life. It involves focusing outside to the object you're savouring and appreciating its pleasant sensory qualities,. Then turning attention inward and noticing your response to that experience. And then savouring, the positive inner feeling. Ultimately it can oftentimes lead to an experience of self transcendence - when the person feels this inner connectedness or this oneness with the object they are savouring.
