Hall's Chronicle - The First Use of Inkhorn Terms
edward hall's chronicle also gives us the first recorded use of words like colicate, meaning to set in place. Many scholars in england were growing weary of those technical terms and felt that many ideas could be expressed perfectly well in english. An english botanist named william turner compiled a list of common plants found in britain and other parts of europe. He listed them alphabetically by their latin name, but in each case he also provided the name of the plant in greek as well as its common english name.
