The town's people would offer all of their supplies to the worm and it would eat them. Many men lost their lives trying to take on this worm which was essentially terrorizing the area, squeezing all life out of the place. When someone managed to land a sword on the side of the the worm and even managed to slice the body in half okay what would happen is that the worm would just grow back so it was almost impossible to kill this worm.
