The Importance of Learning From History

In the United States, there was probably a pretty consistent interest in applied history going back to Roosevelt and Truman. It seems to me though that in the UK it rather fell out of favor. We've got applied history in China and Russia, which is building up imperial nations. I think it's quite important that Xi Jinping and others around him have spoken repeatedly recent decades about the importance of learning from history.
