The Importance of Acceptance
Tolstoy's novel ends with the author accepting that he has lived his life according to the wrong principle. Donna Brazile: Tolstoy is saying, this is how hard it is to give up on yourself. And so now there's this moment of true compassion, but it only happens when you can reject yourself and you don't reject yourself easily.
