The Cycle of Attrition in the Role Society

I don't think we're in a vicious downward cycle, which I think may be your employer. But it does strike me that as a result of this attrition rate in this particular fellowship, that you've got a cyclical problem. If there are fewer female role models within the role society who are being rewarded and recognised for being great scientists, then you're going to have fewer applicants from the outside. We need to encourage more women to compete in this process and to consider applying. And we need to use, as you rightly said, your cell role models.
