The Pentagon's Hope Is That They May Be Able to Replace Them With Other National Guard Troops in 90 Days
US troops active duty cannot conduct any kind of law enforcement mission in the continental US. The idea is they will backfill some of the CBP and other border patrol agents who are down there so that they can go forward and do more of the law enforcement mission. So, we know that they're coming from the Army and the Marine Corps, but we haven't gotten any idea of which units they are yet.
