The Death Penalty in Japan

The man who killed himself in Japan is on death row. His reasons for killing himself are not clear, but he was 'on the outs of society' Do you know how the death penalty works in japan? It's horrified. If a guy like this wants to be executed on deathro an oviously wants to make a big show of it, why not s kill himself and then being executed by the state? I don't know what kind of mental health arguments could be made - i don't know how they would fly in the japanese legal system. But also, it really does speak to this guy's mental state. He obviously has some some kind of delusions of grandeur
