The American Elite's View on Trade Protectionism

The American elite are not nationalist for the most part, both culturally and economically. They want access to chief resources and labor that you find in China or places like that. I think American elites view themselves as having more in common with international elites than with Americans per se. There is not really a belief that the US can be independent when it comes to any number of things.
