Is It Your Duty to Mine Bitcoin?
Bitcoiners often tell people not to do these things for moral reasons. That is understandable, but it isn't really how Bitcoin ever approached things. You should be running a node because increasingly there's less and less stuff you're able to do if you don't run one. If you want to look up a transaction that's of interest to you, you can't ask a third party to go and look at the blockchain on your behalf.
