What's the Role of a Community Health Worker?
A community health worker is an underappreciated figure in the U.S., but maybe a little bit more familiar overseas, which is sometimes called a doula. I first saw them in Africa when I was in Ethiopia and Zambia. These are people that early in whatever illness you have can make your connection to the healthcare system. It's these people who come with kindness and support and care and attention.
