A few hundred hours of work on something will get you to be in the top 1% of whatever field you want to be in. So chess is a great example. The violinists who've only put in 4,000 hours, they were like the third chair of a symphony or an orchestra, not the first chair. But okay, they're better than everyone else except the best in the world. And they didn't put in 10,000 hours.
Recent guest Andrew Gold returns the favor this week by interviewing James on his own podcast, "On the Edge with Andrew Gold". Andrew claims his podcast's aim is to interview "fascinating minds & quirky outsiders"…we're still waiting to learn in which camp he places James!
As Andrew's bio states, he's "a journalist and TV presenter who speaks 5 languages & lived in 6 countries, producing docs on bizarre and controversial subcultures. I battled an abusive exorcist, duelled with the Crazy Baby Lady and hunted UFOs. Working on a book and TV doc on paedophilia and spoke to a teen school head boy paedophile for pod episode six."
