How Can You Play Something Over and Over Again?

Sometimes i'll go back and listen to the actual progression of a song over. And i'll hear a completely different sort of music idea, and a lot of different cindof lyrical ideas. Also gives you a chance to refine it little by little. It's like, lik, like a scene you derive out of improvisation. Sometimes it takes 18 times before it's a finished scene. Even though you improvise, you think the same scene every time.
