The Bishop's Avenue
I was doing a story about the Bishop's Avenue, which is this crazy row of mostly empty houses in Highgate and Hampstead. I visited it 60 years ago but no one knew who owned it. So an editor at The New Yorker wanted to do something about property in London. He said the piece only works if you know who owns it. And so we went and looked around Whittenhurst. It wasn't part of my story. We were just lucky around it because it was cool and empty. Because it's in Highgate. But then I got a meeting with an editor at the New Yorker. Which I've done with that... Is your new book coming out next year?
