The Basis of Modern Human Civilization
The basis of modern human civilization is the fact that people were no longer required to devote the majority of their waking hours searching for food. They could instead devote that time to learning and asking questions and making discoveries. The development of agriculture quickly led to class divisions. It led to the division of people between the haves and the have-nots. And those who controlled the food supply had an enormous amount of influence over those who didn't. But it has also led to social inequality, oppressive power systems,. widespread military conflict and all sorts of other awful things in a hunter-gatherer system.
