Pistorius - Is Acceleration a Key to Sprint Performance?
Pistorius' advantages were so massive at the high end that even if he lost a full second in the first in the acceleration phase of say a 400 meter race, it didn't matter because the other advantages were were so large. His ability to reposition limbs that were very light in very short periods of time meant that he could be on the ground most of the time and in the air only a little bit. So what it did was it reduced his force requirement for running.
