In 18 20, the number of voters had piqued at about a hundred and ten thousand. But by 18 27, that number had fallen to just 70 thousand with most of the losses coming from the liberal opposition. Villau recommended that the king dissolve the chamber of deputies entirely and hold a new vote in november. That would hopefully get the vote in before the opposition was able to swamp the poles. And that's exactly what they did. The subsequent election saw, first of all, a 25 % up tick and voter turnout, with all of it coming from the opposition side. And then second, when the returns came back, the government did not command a majority in the chamber
