The Secret of Scientific Persuasion
Heinrich Heiner wrote a wonderful poem, a wonderful poem about the subject. The secret and often expressed view of the scientific community with respect to the rest of us is that our views do not count. This is a situation which ramifies throughout the scientific community. It has become a wonderfully dominant topic because it is so hard to penetrate various veils of rhetoric by which it is masked.
