Elon Musk: "There is nothing cooler than a giant thing with a really hot fire that goes boom and goes up into the air" The F1 engine was on the Saturn V, biggest rocket built to date prior now to Starship. There's an excessive amount of cooling to be on the safe side as you're developing the engine. But there are also fun little clever tricks like film cooling for fuel injectors.
