The Importance of Multidisciplinary Thinking

Innovation often pens by a kind of borrowing an idea from another field and re purposing it in a new context. The most powerful ideas come out of the collision between at least two or three or four different intellectual worlds or traditions, or fields or disciplines. Mtat tha, kind of the borders between disciplines is where the exciting stuff happens. And so when you're back in the early days of primordial soup, there's no way that these proto-life forms can suddenly turn spontaneously into chimpanzee Ritzees. That's not possible if they are adjacent to each other on their current state. So we have this very finite set of ways that system could change its current state.
