The Evolution of Philosophy

It's not obvious to me how you would detect whether a machine were simply mimicking an emotion or actually having it. I think the point is that the emotion really changes our view on different fields in philosophy, reaching from epistemology to ethics and aesthetics. What are the exciting developments? What lies ahead for the philosophy of emotions?
