The Art of Exaggerating Claims in Politics
"It's really a gift to be able to do that," he says. "Even if you're annoyed that the person is exaggerating, the alternative situation is one where the group breaks up until like seven boring conversations about nothing." In politics, it's just the emotional tone with which you make a claim and can tempt people who feel like you're maybe implying something wrong about them or their group - they have to defend themselves.
