Hail to the thief is a middle ground between guitar rock on one hand and just five guys with chaos pads and a drummer. The sound of this record is very much like okay boys let's put some guitars back in the mix and sell some fucking records yeah because now they've got guitars back and everyone's excited. In rainbows by radio head they decided to sort of pre-release this which is basically we're leaking it to the internet before you have a chance to Because hail to the thief had leaked. That was a big thing. Radio head put in rainbows up and their contract with their record label had just expired. So basically they put the record online digital download pretty low quality
