John Felter's Lobotomy of the Frontal Lobe
In 1935, an American neurologist from Yale presented his work at the University of the Second Neurological Conference held in London. A lobotomy is taking a chunk out of a lobe of the brain, specifically the cortex. And so off the back of this, Walter Freeman, another American neurologist, saw what Anthony Mons was doing and thought, hey, I can take this back into the US and do this in people. He did this with a drill for the first 10 years but then he decided to use an ice pick instead.
