Introduction

Dr. Donald Hoffman is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Cognitive Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. He says that our senses are like user interface resistors on a computer: They guide adaptive behavior. But they didn't evolve to show you any truths about objective reality according to his theory. And perhaps evolution of a natural selection can be shown to be a special case of some deeper theory - but we don't have one right now.
