What Is the Role of the Church in the World?

Is there a more like practical way to live with this reality of conflict rather than, let's say, the more utopian one of turn the other cheek? Like, if you take the story of the tower of Babel, you could argue that that was the scattering of people and putting each group in its own territory. That doesn't then solve it within that world. Look at the Middle East for pity's sake. And yet the conflict goes on.
