HDL Cholesterol Is Not Causal

If something is causal, then anything that increases it has to be viewed as problematic. A lot of people justify their elevated LDL cholesterol or a boB by the fact that their HDL cholesterol also goes up and their triglycerides go down. But when you look at both the clinical trial data and the Mendelian randomization data, they're all in the same direction. Higher LDL cholesterol is causally related to more ASCVD.
