Hugh's Letters to and From His Family
Hugh francis was held in a Chinese prison for more than 20 years. The chinese refused to release him because he wouldn't admit who he was. A citizens group called the yonker citizen committee tried to get hugh released. They were funded and organized by an American government that didn't want to upset China's re-engagement with the U.S. Hugh wrote his first letter, asking for some heavy woollen clothes as winter approached. He also wanted books and sports columns about baseball.
