The Autistic Moment

July 4th is not the best day for many neurodemporation people and those with PTSD because of the fireworks. The sound of fireworks can be a terrible trigger for the auditory sensory processing needs of many autistics. If you are affected by the sound of fireworks, wear your noise canceling headphones or find a safe space where you can fidget or do something to distract you. Do not make them attend the fireworks as the brightness of the lights and the loud noise from them can have serious repercussions. They are not pretending nor do they need to be made to feel that they are doing anything wrong.
