I think there's probably some element of social media culture seeping into narrative entertainment now, where we don't want to hear out the opposition. I hated those movies for that reason. With movies, where it's not about hearing out the villain and understanding where they come from, oit's about just creating a cathartic, bloody experience. The idea is not to convert the audience. It's about to just assuage. That's escalation to extremes does in social mediai just figured out. And maybe that now is becoming the code of violence.
