The Effect of Learning on New Neurons
Scientists have found a way to combine mental and physical exercise. Called map training, it works by giving people 30 minutes of 'arobic exercise' And then they engage in 30 minutes of focused attention meditation. Participants are instructed to count their breath when thinking about the past or present. This helps reduce rumination - where someone repeats things from the past over and over.
