"Freaky" was kind of my interim movie while I was trying to get this one made," he said. "I could write something nice and then kill lots of people in horrible ways and then go back to doing something nice." He referenced a lot of movies in the movie, sort of sort of paying homage and dropping little Easter eggs here and there. But yeah, it felt like the culmination of my life in a lot of ways,. Just sort of all these different filmic influences, but also personal ones as well".
