Some people on very low carb diets see dramatic increases in cholesterol and lipoproteins. This is thought to be at least marginally related to some subclinical hypothyroidism. If you swap out significant portions of your saturated fat intake, particularly dairy for mono and saturated fats, then they didn't see a decrease in their lipoprotein levels. And then just a modest addition of carbs, 50, 75, 100 grams carbs a day for these folks will see their lipoproteons cut more than half.
