The Greek Counter-Attack
The Greek victory at Salamis ended the immediate threat to Greece. Xerxes now returned to Asia with part of the army, leaving behind his general Mardonius in Thessaly. While besieging Patadiah though, Artebazus also decided to besiege Olympus,. After taking Olympus, he massacred the defenders and handed over the town to the Hulchitician people. And so, arguments and rivalries were once again driving the Greeks apart. We saw how in the eve of the Battle of Salamis, that the Athenians and Peloponnesians couldn't agree, and nothing would change until next year.
