The Significance of John's Baptism
Vos: John serves this important prophetic function to prepare them for his coming. God promised never to destroy the world or to judge the world by water after the flood, but he is coming with a judgment of fire. So repent and trust in the coming Messiah to be saved. Vos makes the following comment that the figures used to describe the superiority of the Son of God are really central in understanding what John is heralding.
