The work cornelius was doing was written up in various papers for its ity. Bookings had to be made a week in advance, with the caviot that an overcast day would be cause for cancellation. Cornelius's work became so well regarded as some of the best photography being done in the us. He decided to close his portrait business just a couple of years after it opened.
