Pre oil, people didn't buy from the market. Everybody had their dresses or clothing made for them. And i think the singer sewing machine has had a great impact and a footprint on sewing in general, in the whole region. In some arab countries, they were part of the dowry. The brides were given this machine in order for her to be able to make dress clothing for her family,. If she was in need, it would be a source of income for her to generatee. People always favored making their own clothing for them. They did not favor purchasing brands or buying ready made.
