The Legend of Leonidas of Figalia
Leonidas won 12 gold medals in individual events. Nobody was able to repeat that feat for more than two centuries until American swimmer Michael Phelps won his 12th individual gold medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. The Hopla Dromos was the most prestigious of the three races, because Leonidas had to run with 70 pounds of armor on.
