Faulkner's Faces Are Not Just Descriptive

The way Faulkner uses faces in this is incredible. They're not just adjectives for the sake of knowing what your character looks like so you can envision something in your head. I think that not only does this do a great job of doing a Greek comparison, but it takes us back to our southern allegory as well of these people represent the face of the south. If you are of this class and race, you are this way according to Faulkner, right?
