The wealthy understanding the wealthy is rooted in what I call false values. The idea that Tiger Mom was somehow uniquely Chinese or East Asian was ridiculous. It was just an extreme version of upper middle class practice. Those same helicopter parents were, as Kaitlyn Flanagan said recently, sort of the erotic self-flagellation of the liberal elite.
