The nation made the decision to leave the union without actually considering what that would mean for them. The European Union probably didn't impact the lives of regular British citizens too much, but what it did impact was business. A majority of trade is done through global supply chains for large companies. Companies like Rolls-Royce in the UK build jet engines and motor vehicles. When you are building a jet engine, you are heavily dependent on a global supply chain. This means that most European businesses trade primarily with other European nations because it just makes good economic sense - this potentially won't be the case for the UK anymore.
