How to Reduce the Impact of End-Range Activities on Tissues
Some data on swimmers would suggest that some swimmers are doing 6,000 stroke cycles a day. That's a heavy duty and especially if it's a freestyle swimmer, swimming right at the very end of range is putting a lot of strain on the shoulder. Up to 50% of people will get swimmer's shoulder, which is pretty significant impact on somebody's professional swimming career. So I guess if it was a social level swimmer or a semi-professional swimmer, whereas a physio was allowed to sort of discuss ergonomic changes, I would suggest to them quite seriously that they need to maybe consider a slightly different swimming style.
