What's the Rationale Behind President Nixon's Visit to China?
Nixon's first meeting with chairman mao and the chinese was 50 years ago. He wanted to exploit an intense rivalry between people's republico china and soviet union. The notion that ch China would somehow converge with economic political systems wasn't part of nixon's rational they were realists, he says. And it's why it's so striking when you look at the situation to day, 50 years later, things look very different. It is now china and russia that have developed a strong strategic triangular relationship.
